Your Candidate - Policies
Election statement, noting that these policies whilst used for the 2010 general election are also relevant to future elections.
The UK Independence Party is well known for campaigning for withdrawal from the EU and its straight jacket of costs, rules, regulation and beaurocracy. However, we have a full range of policies in our manifesto designed to achieve a better Britain.
Our policies are centred around the simplification of government which currently comprises 54% of Britain's economy. We do not intend to cut front line services but instead wish to streamline procedures, paperwork and regulations. An independent report by the Tax Payer's Alliance states that this could save £50 billion/year. This would be used to introduce our flat rate income tax policy where employee national insurance and income tax would be merged into one rate of 31%. There would be an enhanced personal allowance of £11K/year designed to help the low paid by not taxing the minimum wage and as a whole reducing income tax for all.
On the subject of crime UKIP believes that criminals should receive proper sentences for their crimes and not be able to use human rights' legislation to avoid justice. Where burglars enter your property, their rights will be left on the doorstep.
With health we would maintain current spending on the NHS and appoint a matron for every ward with responsibility for controlling problems such as hygiene that currently help spread infections.
On education will go back to basics at primary level with concentration on the 'three Rs', and generally an end to overbearing rules and regulations imposed from Whitehall. There would be a return to a grammar school system where it is wanted by local people with a fair means of selection.
For government, we would permit local or national referendums on a range of issues where 5% of the population demand it. One day a week at Westminster would be dedicated to English issues.
In this election I believe that it is important that YOU reject the past and the failed three LibLabCon parties and vote for an Independent Britain ready to take its place in the world. Vote Hendon and UKIP on May 6th.
Local issues and policies - Items extracted and developed from UKIP national policy where applicable.
Warren Hendon believes that politicians should be elected to represent YOU, the voters, and not just themselves. For full policy details click on our manifesto document below. Some local issues of importance include:
Crime....There are every present problems of crime, with burglary presenting an ever present problem. There are issues with youth drug offences and antisocial behaviour which often makes people live in fear of crime. UKIP would allow the police to enforce the law with real penalties for criminals.
Unemployment.....Unemployment is rising owing to the recession and credit crunch, mostly brought on by out of control bankers and 'New' Labour's failures over our economy. Now that more are losing their jobs the folly of almost unlimited immigration is being exposed with jobs being lost to eastern Europeans who take employment and use services whilst contributing little to the economy. (It has been shown that money earned by eastern Europeans often simply goes back home to eastern Europe rather than being spent locally.) UKIP would take Britain out of the EU to prevent this. UKIP is not against all immigration, however it needs to be in proportion and introduce skills that are in genuine shortage.
Local councils....In order to give councils more control over local affairs, there would be less interference form national government resulting in less unnecessary money consuming initiatives. An even bigger cost saving will of course be the rejection of the EU and removal of the constant stream of directives and regulations that it produces. UKIP envisages a system of government where decisions of national and international importance are taken in Parliament with your local council left to deal with local issues.
